FRENCH
TOAST
The
Ingredients:
Toast
1/3 C Vegetable oil
6 Eggs
12 Slices firm bread (1/2 thick)
3 T. Grand Mariner or other orange flavored liquor
4 T. Heavy cream
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/3 C Sugar
Cream
Cheese Filling
8 oz. Cream Cheese softened
Zest of 2 oranges
2 T. Orange juice (fresh)
Berry Syrup
1 pkg. Mixed berries (frozen)
1 C. Water
2 tsp. Cornstarch mixed with 1 T. water
How
to:
Toast In a medium bowl combine eggs, Grand Mariner,
Heavy Cream and Sugar. Wisk until eggs are frothy
and sugar is dissolved. Soften cream cheese and
mix together with orange zest and juice. Spread
1 to 1 1/2 T. of cream cheese on slice of bread
and top with second slice of bread. Dip in egg
batter and coat well, fry until golden, turning
once for about 5-6 minutes. Drain on paper towel
and keep warm in oven while frying remaining French
toast.
Syrup
Place berries, water and sugar in small saucepan
and bring to a small boil. Smash berries with
the back of a spoon, thicken with cornstarch and
water mixture, strain and serve over French toast.
Garnish with powdered sugar and orange slices
