At the age of five, Miguel wanted to be a dancer inspired by the legendary Michael Jackson, but at the age of 13 he decided to make music instead. A decision well made for a talented song writer/artist that is only moving in one direction: Up.

The half Mexican/African American from San Pedro, CA officially made it big when he signed a contract with Jive Records in 2007. Right away He used his powerful musical pen to help write for Usher, Asher Roth, Musiq Soulchild and Mary J. Blige. Four years later, Miguel was ready to show the world his electric style with his debut album, "All I want is you".

I was super excited as I prepped my photography gear and headed Northbound on the 99 For The Big Fresno Fair. Concerts are already really fun but attending a live show at The Paul Paul theatre enhances the concert goers experience. The cool fall October weather with the scent of fried fair food in the air and all the cool exhibits give you something to enjoy before or after the show.

Miguel is known to tour with a live band and sure enough the band was in full effect. The live sound was electric with a mix of funk and soul. I could see splashes of Prince, Lenny Kravitz and Pharell Williams in his music style. Billboard Magazine exclaims, Miguel, 24, “offers both the sweetness of Babyface and the passion of R. Kelly.”

It didn't matter that the 24 year old is still growing as an artist and with only a Freshman album because every fan was singing his lyrics. After all, his debut single titled "All I Want Is You", which features J. Cole and His other single "Sure Thing" which reached number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart has been blasting on the radio waves for the entire year.

If you missed the show, don't worry, this is only the beginning. Miguel is setting himself up to be around for a long time to come.
